About Frances

Frances Tan Si Min is a Singaporean singer-songwriter currently based in Los Angeles, California. With a rich background in both law and music, Frances uniquely bridges structure and soul in her work. After graduating with an LLB from the London School of Economics and Political Science, she pursued her passion for music and just graduated from her Master’s degree in Songwriting at New York University.
Her heartfelt compositions reflect her belief in music’s ability to move, heal and inspire. In 2024, she was named the Winner of the UK Songwriting Contest’s Singer-Songwriter Category for her song Just Me. In 2025, she was honoured as the SG100 Foundation’s Youth Ambassador and a B.O.L.D. Award recipient after performing her original tribute song, Ride into the Sun, at the Lest We Forget event commemorating the 10th anniversary of the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew. Frances has since been invited by schools and Members of Parliament across Singapore to perform the song at events celebrating Singapore’s 60th year of independence.
In 2026, with her original song Just Me, she represented Singapore in the Commonwealth Song Contest, where Singapore won the Public Vote. She was also nominated in two categories at the 2026 Hollywood Independent Music Awards for her debut EP, I AM FRANCES: Lyrics/Lyricist for I Still Write Songs in Secret and Best Original Recording for What Can't Be Changed (2026 Version).

Frances has also been invited by schools around Singapore to share her song "Ride into the Sun", as well as her education and career journey as part of their Character & Citizenship Education Career Guidance Programmes.
In line with these sharings, Frances authored her first book, titled 'Discover Your Passion' in 2026. The book includes the story of how she discovered her interests in Law and Music, tells the stories behind the songs that she wrote along the way and provides reflection prompts for readers to reflect on their own passions and dreams. As of July 2026, 2,000 copies have been distributed to students around Singapore.
